Isn't Triangle The Most Stable? Why Is Most Furniture Four-legged?
Feb 10, 2023
The force direction of a triangle is along any side of the triangle. When a point is added, it becomes quadrilateral, unstable, and can be deformed and stretched.
The four legs of the furniture are stressed in the direction of any leg (provided that the legs are the same length). When one leg is short, three legs hit the ground, and the direction of force is still downward. The legs are short and stressed, the table is unstable and can shake.
The direction of force is different, the surface is fixed, and it cannot be simply seen as a triangle or quadrilateral.
Therefore, the cause and effect of this problem have nothing to do with each other.
